Jewel box powder bath
Designers are very lucky when a client returns to do additional rooms. This client has been back many times, knowing that her ideas and dreams can be created by this design team. Her vision of a very special powder room was made very difficult due to the extremely small space.
Knowing the client well, this designer was inspired by a new sink created by Kohler. The Moroccan theme was just what would excite the client, and was the jumping off point for the design of this powder room.
Since the countertop and sink were so bold, other items in the powder room had to complement but not compete. A beautiful textured wall was created by using a simple creamy tile that offered detailed trim pieces. Glass beaded wall covering in a vibrant red was installed above the tile, creating a jewel box feeling in the small room. Crystal sconces added even more sparkle.
The rich cabinetry was designed as a furniture piece with carved moldings enhancing it. Keeping the vanity smaller than the space, allowed for the tile to be more visible and created lovely shadows with the textures of the materials.
The flooring further captured the spirit of the room, since it is reclaimed pavers from Morocco. Installed in a herringbone pattern, it adds another element of texture and detail.
This room is truly a surprise to all who enter it, making it just what the client was hoping for. |
